Parents: Limit permissions for your child
You can establish safety settings (Customizable settings that help parents to protect children from being exposed to inappropriate web content. For example, parents can prevent a child from communicating with a particular person, or block access to specific types of content on the Internet.) to help protect your child while they use Windows Live Spaces. When you act as your child's administrator (Family Safety users with permissions to change Family Safety settings and to add and remove child users. The primary administrator can also add and remove secondary administrators.) , you can:
- Filter the content or terminology your child is exposed to while your child views other spaces.
- Limit who can view your child's space.
- Control who can contact your child and approve or deny new contacts.
- Block a child from using Windows Live Spaces.
To limit permissions for your child while they use Spaces or other Windows Live products or services, visit the Windows Live OneCare Family Safety website and follow the instructions on the screen.
Notes
- If your child already has a space, you can still act as an administrator. Sign up for Windows Live OneCare Family Safety with your children, so that they can tell you their Windows Live ID (The user name and password that you use to sign in to any Windows Live, MSN, or Office Live sites and services. If you have a Passport Network, Hotmail, or Messenger account, you can use it as your Windows Live ID.) .
- For more information about helping kids stay safe online by establishing safety settings, see About Windows Live OneCare Family Safety.
- To learn more about restricting your children from using Windows Live products or services, see Block or allow applications.
