Gambling guidelines

Microsoft adCenter cannot accept advertising for websites that promote or facilitate, directly or indirectly, online gambling or wagering. You may bid on keywords that are commonly associated with online gambling or wagering, provided neither the ad nor the landing page promotes online gambling or wagering.

Follow these guidelines to increase the possibility that gambling- or wagering-associated ads and keywords will not be disapproved. Note that these guidelines apply within the United States and could differ in other countries or regions. Ads and keywords that are acceptable under one policy guideline might not be acceptable under another. You will need to make any changes necessary to comply with all of the policy guidelines.

Consistent with the Microsoft Network Creative Acceptance Policy, Microsoft adCenter reserves the right to refuse an ad or to make exceptions to the policy even if an ad complies with the guidelines.

Allowed (with restrictions)
  • Gambling-related merchandise, such as poker chips, playing cards, card tables, hand-held games, books, CDs, and DVDs, provided the website to which the destination URL points is in no way affiliated with online gambling or wagering.
  • Gambling-related activities that are in no way connected to an opportunity to gamble online. For example, an advertiser can promote a televised poker game as entertainment, but not how to participate.
  • Physical establishments that offer legal gambling, provided the site to which the destination URL points is in no way affiliated with online gambling or wagering. For example, a casino can advertise legal gambling services if its customers can access the gambling offerings only in a legal manner, such as traveling to the location in order to participate. A casino resort can advertise any non-gambling-related businesses, such as hotel accommodations.
Not allowed
  • Any content that facilitates, promotes, or is affiliated in any way with online gambling or wagering of any type, except as allowed in the Allowed (with restrictions) section.
  • "Cheat to win" offers.
  • Website landing pages that contain links that direct customers to prohibited gambling content, regardless of where the links are located in the site. In other words, it must be impossible for a potential customer to navigate from the landing page to any prohibited gambling or wagering content.
