If you currently use Microsoft Entourage to access Hotmail, you can change your settings to use POP3 (POP3, or Post Office Protocol 3, is a protocol that's used to retrieve e-mail from a mail server.) instead of DAV. POP3 is another method for Entourage to communicate with Hotmail.
Important
There are a few differences between DAV and POP3. For example, if you read an e-mail message in Entourage, the message still displays as unread in your Hotmail account on the web. Also, only messages in your Hotmail inbox appear in Entourage. Other folders, and any messages in them, aren't shown.
If the Account Setup Assistant displays, clear the contents of the E-mail address field, and then click Configure Account Manually.
In the New Account window, choose POP, and then click OK.
Note
Don't choose Windows Live Hotmail as the account type.
In the Edit Account window, click the Account Settings tab, type the following Hotmail account information:
In the Account name field, type a name to identify your account.
Verify that Include this account in my “Send & Receive All” schedule is not selected.
